The elections to Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC), which are scheduled to held on March 6, have been postponed.
Justice HS Bhalla, commissioner Gurdwara Elections, issued a notification saying that “all activities pertaining to the elections to the HSGMC shall stand withdrawn till further order. The fresh schedule for the elections shall be issued later on.”
Justice Bhalla quoted a communication from the Director, Secondary Education, which mentioned that the CBSE examinations of Classes X and XII were scheduled to be held from February 15 to April 2. Besides, other annual school examinations were also scheduled around March 6, Justice Bhalla said.
It was only on Wednesday that Justice Bhalla had issued the election schedule for the March 6 polls for all 40 wards across the state.
As per the schedule issued by the commissioner, the returning officer were to publish the notice inviting nominations on February 9. The nominations were to be filed from February 10 to 16 (except February 11-Sunday and February 14-gazetted holiday). The scrutiny of nomination will be carried out on February 17.
