Rohtak, March 5

A sarv khap panchayat (meeting of all caste councils) will be held at the farmers’ dharna spot in Titoli village tomorrow to discuss how to strengthen the ongoing farm agitation in all districts of the state besides bringing all farm organisations and khaps on one platform.

“We have sent letters to all the khaps in the state for the panchayat and office-bearers of over 50 khaps are likely to participate. They will be asked to give their suggestions to muster support for the ongoing farm agitation,” said Jaivir Singh, president, Kundu Khap. He said currently farmers were staging an indefinite dharna at five places in Haryana in support of their counterparts in Punjab, who had been staying put at the borders of both the states.

“Now, the time has come to intensify the farm protest in Haryana as well by starting dharnas in all districts. A detailed discussion will be held on the issue. Representatives of various farm organisations will also be part of this meeting,” said Singh. Meanwhile, farmers from various villages today reached the dharna spot in Titoli and demanded from the Central government to accept their demands.
