Avalanche victim’s body found

Mandi, May 11

The body of a 42-year-old farmer, Rajinder Kumar, was recovered at his Bargul village in the tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti today. The victim was buried under a snow avalanche in his field on April 13.

The district administration of Lahaul and Spiti had engaged a rescue team of the district disaster management authority and ITBP personnel for many days to trace him but to no avail. Today, villagers again started a search operation and diverted the water course of a nearby rivulet towards the site to melt the snow. It worked out as the body of victim was recovered. Later, they informed to the district administration about it.

DC, Lahaul and Spiti, KK Saroch said the post-mortem had been conducted. — TNS
