Shimla, November 1

Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam (HPKVN) managing director Rohan Chand Thakur said they were trying to provide jobs to thousands of unemployed skilled and semi-skilled citizens, who had returned to the state in the wake of Covid-19, through its Skill Register portal launched during the pandemic.

He said over 16,406 persons had registered themselves for employment on the Skill Register portal. The HPKVN then approached various industries and companies in the state and identified 1,802 employment opportunities. Some of the companies offering job opportunities include Havell’s, Voltas, Tafe, Indoco Remedies and organisations like MT Autocraft, Parwanoo, etc.

These job opportunities were mapped as per the eligibility, qualification and aspiration of the people registered on the skill portal and based on such mapping, HPKVN identified 1,685 candidates eligible for the jobs offered, Thakur stated.

These candidates were individually contacted, counselled and motivated to avail the job opportunities. Consequently, 405 candidates expressed interest in taking up jobs. Out of these, 282 candidates appeared for interview and 102 candidates were shortlisted. The rest, who could not join, were being further counselled and motivated by the HPKVN team so that matching job opportunities could be provided to them, he maintained.

The HPKVN is also working on providing multiple offers to each candidate so that they have options to choose from.

The MD said skilled and semi-skilled unemployed residents returning from other states could register themselves on ‘skillregister.hp.gov.in’.
