Indora cop gets Uttam Jeevan Raksha Medal

Nurpur, January 27

The Union Home Ministry has awarded ‘Uttam Jeevan Raksha Medal’ to HP police’s Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Naresh Kumar, who has been serving in the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Chandigarh, on deputation. The awardee hails from Thakurdwara of Indora sub-division in Nurpur district. As per information, ASI Naresh Kumar had gone to ‘Bathu ki Lari’ at the Pong Lake with his family on June 18 last year. Five youths, who were bathing there, started drowning. The ASI rushed to rescue them and saved three of them from drowning.

Kumar’s name had been recommended by the state police for this award. While congratulating Kumar, SP Ashok Ratan said his exemplary courage was an inspiration for other police personnel.
