DC seeks public support to tackle illegal mining

JALANDHAR: Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today sought cooperation of the public in checking the menace of illegal mining in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today sought cooperation of the public in checking the menace of illegal mining in the district.

In a statement issued here today, the Deputy Commissioner said the district administration was duty-bound to check illegal mining and the drive against the menace was being implemented effectively, so that no one was able to take law in their hands.

He called upon people to come forward and help the district administration to keep a strict vigil over the illegal mining in the district by registering their complaints.

Sharma said the state government and the district administration had launched an mobile app, helpline number and email to facilitate people for lodging their complaints.

The Deputy Commissioner said to check the peril in the state, the Punjab Government has launched PB GRAM online portal (www.publicgrievancepb.gov.in) where people could lodge their complaints in connection with illegal mining.

He said as per this commitment, the state government had launched this portal and anybody could lodge complaint against illegal mining on it.

Sharma reiterated that to check the peril in the district, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) had been appointed as a nodal officer.

The Deputy Commissioner said besides this portal, people could also lodge their complaint regarding illegal mining on helpline No. 0181-2459664.

He said if any person wants to give information regarding illegal mining to the nodal officer, then he could contact him on the helpline or email id — [email protected]. Sharma said people should use the portal, helpline number or the email ID of the nodal officer for check the issue.

He said besides, the complaint could also be lodged with the SDM, DSP or the local SHO concerned.
