Kotkapura mourns its daughter’s death in PG fire

Faridkot, February 23

A pall of gloom descended on Kotkapura after the news of Pakshi Grover’s death broke out. Pakshi, a 19-year-old BBA student, was killed on Saturday in a fire incident at a PG accommodation in Sector 32 of Chandigarh.

Daughter of Navdeep Grover, a businessman, Pakshi joined BBA course at Chandigarh’s SD College two years ago. “Pakshi was a brilliant student who topped in Class XII in DAV School, Kotkapura. She was planning to join her brother in Canada after graduation,” sources said. They said when the fire broke out, Pakshi rushed to help her friend Jasmeen Kaur, who was sleeping in another room, woke her up and told her to jump from the first floor of the house. However in mean time, the raging fire engulfed Pakshi, taking her life.

Pakshi’s family members are presently in Chandigarh, waiting for her Canada-based brother and cousin to arrive at the Chandigarh airport. She will be cremated at Kotkapura on Monday, said sources. Many of Pakshi’s school friends said she was a brilliant student and was keen to study commerce. — TNS
