We don’t know what is more pleasant or surprising—good news or good news when it is unexpected! Pretty much what happened when Netflix’s India Original series Sacred Games, anthology film Lust Stories and Amazon Prime’s The Remix got nominated for International Emmy Award. While we know those in the reckoning are working on their acceptance speeches and practicing, may be with a shampoo bottle just so you know), in the meanwhile, their excited reactions sum up the surprise and the happiness over International Emmy nominations.

The second season of Sacred Games starring Saif Ali Khan and Nawazzuddin Siddiqui has been nominated in the best drama category.  Here’s what the stars tweeted:

Radhika Apte shines through

Well, she has twin connect of sorts with this year’s Emmy nominations. First being her direct nomination in the category of best performance by an actress for Lust Stories and the second being the fact that she was a part of Sacred Games 1!  She shares the credit with Jenna Coleman in The Cry, Marjorie Estiano in Under Pressure—Season 2 and Marina Gera in Hungarian drama Orok Tel. Lust Stories made it to the TV movie/Mini-series category competing with dramas like If I Close My Eyes Now, Aussie contender Safe Harbour and Trezor from Hungary. 

Know the various Emmy Awards 

• The International Emmy awards are a separate event from the main awards — known as the Primetime Emmy Awards — which recognise shows produced in the US. In fact, they have a much greater legacy because they have been around since 1949.  The 71st Primetime gala organized by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will be held on September 22 in Los Angeles, while the International Emmy Awards will be held on November 25 in New York.
• The International Emmy Awards recognises excellence in television programming produced outside the US. They are presented annually by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences since 1973. The 47th edition of the award will be held in November in New York.
• Then there’s Sports Emmys to recognise the best in sports programming, and News and Documentary Emmys to spot the best in national news and documentary programming. 
• In addition, there are Emmy awards for excellent students, highest achievement Emmy and an Emmy to recognise great public service. — IANS
