3 arrested for attacking cops in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, June 14

The Division 2 police have registered a case against three persons on the charge of attacking policemen on duty in the Islam Ganj area.

The suspects have been identified as Simranjit Singh of Islam Ganj, Surinder Singh of Khajoor Chowk and Atul Kumar of Ludhiana. A case under sections 353, 186, 160 and 332 of the IPC has been registered against them and they have been arrested.

According to senior constable Gurdeep Singh, who is part of a PCR squad, he, along with another policeman, was on patrol duty when they received information that some people were scuffling in the Islam Ganj area. They reached the spot and tried to calm down the disputing parties.

More than 12 persons carrying swords were scuffling with each other. When they were strictly told to stay calm, they started attacked the police. “We immediately sought police force and three suspects, who attacked us, were arrested from the spot,” said the policeman.
