Allow shops to open on Aug 2, minister urged in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, July 17

A delegation of the Halwai Association here today met Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu. The delegation asked the minister to allow them to open their shops on August 2 (Sunday), before the festival of Raksha Bandhan which falls on August 3, as shops will be closed otherwise due to the weekend lockdown.

Association members said in case markets were not allowed to open on Sunday, there would be huge losses. They ensured that they would maintain and stick to the guidelines issued by the government regarding Covid-19. They also met the Police Commissioner in this regard. — TNS
