Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi today laid the foundation stone of the Ludhiana Improvement Trust’s ambitious high-rise housing scheme Atal Apartments in the Shaheed Karnail Singh Nagar area on Pakhowal Road here.
Channi said the project is being constructed by the LIT under 100 per cent self-financing scheme and it would have 12-storeyed 336 HIG and 240 MIG flats. “Providing affordable housing to its residents is the first and foremost priority of the Congress-led Punjab government,” he asserted, adding that the scheme would remain open till December 27, 2021, and the draw of lots for allotment of flats would be held in January 2022.
The Chief Minister said these flats would have earthquake-resistant structure, separate green parks for HIG and MIG flats, club house, indoor swimming pool, multipurpose hall, gymnasium, table tennis rooms, separate dedicated tower parking, video door phones in each flat and CCTV cameras at the main entrance of the site for 24 hour security.
In addition, each tower in the complex would have two lifts each with 13-person capacity, stretcher lift in each block with 24-hour backup, washed grit finish with combination of red tiles on outer elevations, big balconies in all rooms, drawing room and kitchen, rainwater harvesting systems with latest techniques, centralised fire hydrant system with yard hydrant and wet riser, provision for 24-hour power backup for lifts, besides several other facilities.
The CM was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, MLA Kuldeep Singh Vaid, LIT Chairman Raman Balasubramaniam, PSIDC Chairman KK Bawa, Naresh Dhigan, MC Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal and others.
