Ludhiana: The police have arrested Bunty, a resident of Azad Nagar, near Dhuri Line, while he was selling liquor outside his house. In the raid conducted on a tip-off, the police seized 30 bottles of whisky. In another raid conducted at the house of a bootlegger, Harpreet Singh, in Bhairo Munna village, the police seized 12 bottles of whisky. Harpreet Singh, however, escaped. OC
Man booked for blasphemy
Ludhiana: The police have registered a case against Baljinder Singh Jindu, owner of Guru Nnak Modikhana, a medicine outlet in Civil Lines, under sections 295-A of the IPC and section 67 of the IT Act. He has been booked on a complaint of Ritesh Raja, state general secretary of Shiv Sena who had charged Jindu with showing disrespect to Lord Hanuman and Mata Sita in a live post on Facebook.
Lockdown: 2 held for defiance
Ludhiana: The police have arrested Gujinder Singh, a worker at the liquor vend located near Tikona Park in Model Town, for selling liquor after the stipulated closure time of 9 pm. A case under sections 188/269 of the IPC has been registered against the suspect. Khushvir Singh of Guru Nanak Pura was nabbed for keeping his eatery, Karnail Chicken Corner, at Dharampura open after the stipulated closure time. OC
One arrested with pistol
Ludhiana: The police have arrested Ravinder Kumar of Guru Nanak Pura with a pistol and nine cartridges. He has been booked under sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act. The police said the suspect was coming from Balloke Road side when he took a U-turn on the sight of a police check point at Sheller Chowk in Haibowal. OC
