Avoid visiting government offices for work: DC

With many officials from the district administration testing positive, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Sharma has curtailed the entry of the public to the DC office complex. Entry will be allowed only in the rarest of the rare case.

“The residents are advised not to visit the government offices for any work and should instead submit their applications, complaints or memorandums through email, Whatsapp or through call. The redressal of problems of residents is also necessary, but the safety and well-being of government officials cannot be ignored as well in public interest. The number of positive cases is increasing with each passing day, and there is a need to break the chain,” said DC while exercising powers under Epidemic Act 1897 and National Disaster Management Act 2005.

Complaint box, WhatsApp number

Besides, a complaint box has been installed on the main gate of the District Administrative Complex, or the complaints/applications/memorandums can be sent at WhatsApp number 6284789829 or by calling at phone number 0161-2403100 from 9 am to 5 pm on any working day.

The DC clarified that a complainant can appear in person only in case of emergency cases. He also directed that hand sanitiser should be kept at the entry points of all government offices and officials should be deputed to check whether visitors are wearing masks, their hands are sanitised or and their temperature is checked with thermal thermometers.

“Memorandums would be accepted only through email/whatsapp. No organisations/person would be allowed to enter the offices for this purpose,” he reiterated.
