The passengers travelling on Ferozepur-Ludhiana route have been playing hide and seek with tragedy all this while.

They have asked the railway authorities to construct additional platforms at the Jagraon and Mullanpur railway stations as boarding trains in absence of additional platforms can prove fatal.

“We have to face a lot of problems while boarding trains, especially when two trains arrive at the same time. The passengers who board trains from the main platform have no issues. However, the ones who need to board train from the other side of the platform are a harried lot due to non-availability of additional platform,” said Madan Lal, a frequent traveller.

There is only one platform at the Jagraon and Mullanpur railway stations. “Boarding trains becomes difficult the elderly and women passengers. There is a need to construct additional platform at the Jagraon and Mullanpur railway stations. The railway traffic has also increased considerably on this route,” said another passenger, Gaurav Singla.

Passengers traversing on this section have urged the authorities concerned earlier as well. However, the railway authorities said constructing another platform at the Jagraon and Mullanpur railways station would be a difficult task as goods trains were loaded and unloaded where the passengers demand additional platforms.

Divisional Railway Manager Ferozepur Vivek Kumar could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
