CSR initiative: Companies donate money, clothes to underprivileged

The Vardhman Special Steels Limited took an initiative to support Bharat Vikas Parishad and provide aid to the differently abled associated with the NGO.

Under its CSR initiative, the company offered a help of Rs 1 lakh for distributing artificial limbs and announced to provide a sum of Rs 4 lakh annually to Bharat Vikas Parishad in order to support the welfare scheme.

Sachit Jain, vice-chairman, VSSL, besides M K Srivastav and Amit Dhawan from VSSL met the patients and considering their requirement, offered financial support for providing artificial limbs and treatment for polio to these patients. “It is a humble initiative taken by Bharat Parishad, which would help make the lives of many patients easier,” said Jain.

VSSL has also taken up the initiative to develop a green belt in the city. The company has adopted about 8 acres of land for the same at different locations for development of parks and planting trees.

Reaching out to the needy

In another initiative, MBD Group conducted a month long series of CSR activities in Ludhiana to observe the 10th Remembrance Day of the founder Ashok Kumar Malhotra.

The staff distributed around 500 clothes to the underprivileged and vulnerable children in the slum areas at Pahkowal area, Rajguru Nagar, Ferozpur road, BRS Nagar and to beggars outside the Durga Mata Temple, Jagron bridge with an aim of making a noticeable difference in their lives and provide support they would have otherwise been devoid of. The month long CSR programme across all business verticals of MBD was focused on supporting and encouraging such meaningful deeds.

On the occasion, Satish Bala Malhotra, Chairperson, MBD Group said, “Ashok Malhotra- the founder always believed in equality, worked diligently towards the empowerment of the less privileged and making difference in the lives of the people through his work.
