Ludhiana, July 1
The 145th Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath was taken out in the city today. Sea of devotees gathered to have a glimpse of Lord Jagganath. Due to rain since yesterday, the stalls on Rani Jhansi were put up late and yatra also started much later than its usual time.
Devotional songs were played and devotees looked excited, waited for the three idols of Lord Jagannath, Subhadra and Balabhadra to arrive so that they can pay their obeisance.
The organisers had made sure that no plastic cutlery was used due to the ban on single-use plastic.
One of the devotees, Kamlesh Kumari, said that as compared to previous years, this time not many eatables were distributed among the devotees and not huge rush was witnessed. “As the yatra started late, it is expected to reach midnight at Durga Mata Mandir, Sarabha Nagar, its culmination point”. The devotees were distributed prasad on the road. Meanwhile, another Rath yatra was held at Chander Nagar area today in which devotees took part in large numbers.
