Sukhwinder Singh Moni, a notorious criminal who was wanted for ATM thefts and in other criminal cases, shot dead a 45-year-old financier, Harjinder Singh Jindi, at Jawahar Camp this evening.

Deceased Harjinder Singh Jindi

Moni, along with his accomplice, barged into the clinic of Dr Ravinder Singh Dua and rained bullets at Jindi. The assailants pumped six bullets into Jindi, two in the head and the others in the chest and stomach.

The assailants had parked their WagonR car about 200 metre from the spot. After killing Jindi, they fled the scene in the car. While running towards the car, they also fired shots into the air to intimidate people. There was a huge rush in the market when the incident took place.

Dr Dua said he was giving medicine to Jindi when two assailants opened fire at him. When initial shots missed Jindi, he ran inside a cabin at the clinic. The assailants followed him and rained bullets on him. Jindi’s kin said he usually carried a licensed weapon but today, he left it at home.

According to sources, Moni believed Jindi was behind the arrest of his gang members. He also believed Jindi was also telling the police about his whereabouts as he (Moni) was also a resident of Jawahar Camp.
