Ludhiana, April 12

Miscreants fired bullets at residents after an altercation in Tibba here late on Monday night. They also damaged six cars.

The incident occurred at around 11 pm after residents objected to noisy birthday celebrations on the road by over 12 youths.

One person, Parminder Singh Gill, suffered bullet injury on his arm, Harjot Singh suffered bullet injury on his thigh, and Jasvir Singh suffered minor injuries after he was attacked by the assailants. The injured are undergoing treatment at a hospital. They are said to be out of danger.

Jasvir said yesterday around 12 youths were celebrating birthday in a residential area in Tibba and they were making a lot of noise.

“When I along with the area residents told the youths, who were reportedly in an inebriate state, to stop making noise, they started arguments with us. They also hurled abuses at us. Before we could understand anything, the accused started firing bullets at us. Afterwards, they damaged around six cars with sharp weapons and baseball bats,” he said.

After the incident, JCP (Rural) Ravcharan Singh Brar and ADCP Jagatpreet Singh reached the spot and started a probe into the matter.

Residents alleged that the assailants had fired over 36 bullets and all of them were carrying weapons. Tibba SHO Nardev Singh said two of the accused namely Armaan and Deepa were nabbed and raids were being conducted to nab the other accused.
