Ludhiana, July 2
A 55-year-old man attempted to rape a five-year-old girl child at New Chandar Nagar, Haibowal, on Saturday.
The Jagatpuri police arrested the suspect, identified as Ramesh Kumar.
As per information, today when the girl’s parents went to market and their children were alone at home, the suspect took the child with him by luring her on the promise of buying a candy.
He took the child to his room where he tried to violate her. When her mother returned and found her daughter missing, the victim’s two siblings told her that the man had taken away the child with him.
Afterwards, the girl’s mother went to the suspect’s room. When she knocked the door, he opened it and she found her daughter hidden under the bed.
Residents caught the suspect and handed him over to the police.
Investigating officer ASI Surjit Singh said Ramesh was arrested on the charges of attempt to rape.
