MC warns traders, rehri owners against littering roads

LUDHIANA: MC Commissioner Jaskiran Singh has warned shopkeepers/ showrooms/ rehri-ferri vendors not to throw garbage on public roads else they would be fined.

MC Commissioner Jaskiran Singh has warned shopkeepers/ showrooms/ rehri-ferri vendors not to throw garbage on public roads else they would be fined.

Jaskiran Singh said the safai karamcharis of the MC clean roads before 8 am and then after 2 pm daily. “But it is observed that whenever shops/showrooms are opened around 11 am, the waste/garbage of shops is thrown on public roads. Similar is the condition with rehri-ferri vendors, who throw garbage on roads.” He instructed the staff to start imposing fine on those found guilty as throwing garbage on roads, gives a dirty look to the city.

As per the new instructions, shopkeepers would be fined to the tune of Rs1,000, while rehri-ferri owners would be asked to pay a fine of Rs500 if they throw waste on roads. He asked shopkeepers and rehri-ferri vendors to keep dustbins so that the waste could be thrown into these. — TNS
