NHRC monitor visits Ludhiana Central Jail

Ludhiana, January 30

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Special Monitor Bal Krishan Goel on Tuesday visited Central Jail here and directed the officials to immediately resolve the grievances of the undertrials and prisoners.

Accompanied by ADC (UD) Rupinderpal Singh, CWC Chairman Gurjit Singh Romana, DCPO Rashmi and DPO Anupriya, Goel also checked various barracks and took a round of the biscuit manufacturing and furniture repair units. He also visited women's wing and the health facility. He quizzed the undertrials and prisoners about the availability of medical facilities.

Goel said efforts were being made by the NHRC to prevent the violation of human rights.

Later, Goel also visited the 'Red Cross Senior Citizens Home' and discussed the problems of the residents. He directed the officials to improve the services available to the residents.
