Covid-19 claimed life of 15 more persons in the district. In all, 286 fresh coronavirus cases were confirmed in the district on Wednesday.
The Health Department received report of 324 positive samples, including 286 from Ludhiana district and 38 from other districts or states. Out of 286 patients belonging to Ludhiana district, 95 patients were suffering from influenza like illness (ILI) and they visited the flu corner. Four patients were suffering from severe acute respiratory infections (SARI). Besides, 32 patients came in contact of positive patients and 79 visited the OPD. Also, 10 healthcare workers and two cops tested positive for the virus.
Those, who succumbed to the virus, include a 61-year-old man from Laxmi Colony, a 58-year-old man from Dugri, a 59-year-old woman from Haibowal Kalan, a 73-year-old man from New Kuldeep Nagar, a 52-year-old man from Shivpuri, a 62-year-old woman from Manki village in Samrala sub-division, a 56-year-old man from Begowal, a 57-year-old man from Rahon village in Khanna subdivsion, a 63-year-old man from Ladhowal, a 54-year-old man from Tharike village, a 50-year-old man from Moti Bagh Colony, a 59-year-old man from Akalgarh Raikot, a 50-year-old woman from Dhoolkot village, a 51-year-old woman from the Green Park area of Civil Lines and a 65-year-old man from Barmalipur.
The Ludhiana Civil Surgeon, Dr Rajesh Bagga, said samples of 2,07,382 suspected persons were collected in the district till date. Of them, 14,908 tested positive for the disease in the district, he added. According to the Civil Surgeon, 12,651 (84.8%) patients had recovered from the disease.
The Civil Surgeon confirmed that 26 persons, including 15 from Ludhiana district and 11 from other districts and states, had died due to Covid-19 on Wednesday. In all, 622 persons from Ludhiana district had lost their lives to coronavirus, he added.
At present, 40 patients were on ventilator, the Civil Surgeon said while adding that 4,969 Covid samples were collected for testing today.
