Ludhiana, August 7

The Ludhiana rural police today carried out a search operation in houses of people involved in drug peddling and other unlawful activities on Sunday.

In a statement issued by the rural police, it was stated that Jagraon DSP SS Virk conducted a search operation in houses of around 25 drug peddlers. Raikot DSP Prabhjot Kaur carried out a search in 18 houses of drug peddlers. The houses were thoroughly searched for seizing drugs.

The DSP (Special Branch) Gurvinder Singh also searched 15 houses of drug peddlers and also warned their family members to convince their kin to shun the illegal trade.

Gurtej Singh, DSP, NDPS, along with a heavy police force, conducted a search in villages of Jagraon namely Gagra, Chajjawal, Rumi, Galib Kalan and Swaddi Khurd.

The police seized 5 gm of heroin, 200 intoxicating tablets, Rs 16,000 drug money from the houses of the drug peddlers. Eleven suspected persons were taken to police stations for questioning.
