Ludhiana Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal today organised a discussion show on Covid-19 on the official Facebook page of the Ludhiana Police in which top officials of each department were invited.
Symptoms can develop within two weeks
Dr Seema Singhal of SPS Hospital said though the symptoms of the virus were just like flu, it was more severe. “If you have any such symptom, do visit the hospital immediately. Symptoms can develop within two weeks,” she added. She also cleared that there was no such evidence of animal to human transmission of this virus.
Wash hands frequently
Dr Lydia, an expert from the CMCH, said, the infection spread from droplets only. Virus can survive for a few hours and to stay safe, you must wash hands frequently.
Rajesh Mahajan of the DMCH said if someone had cold, cough, or having mild symptoms, they must isolate themselves for a few days in their house, but if someone is already suffering from some other disease, and he also shows the symptoms of cold or cough, he must seek immediate advice of doctors.
Covid virus can survive on currency notes for few hours
Replying to the query whether the virus can spread from currency notes, he said the virus could survive on notes for a few hours, so one should keep washing hands, said Dr Mahajan.
Newspaper no carrier
Dr Rajesh Bagga, Civil Surgeon, Ludhiana, said Covid didn’t spread from newspapers and this was a wrong perception among people that it could be transmitted through newspapers.
Door-to-door rapid test soon
Dr Bagga said door-to-door rapid test of each and every resident was also about to begin in the district in a day or two as rapid testing kits had already arrived for the purpose.
“Novel Coronavirus testing will be done through ‘Rapid Testing Kits’ in the district shortly. The test is simply done with a single prick to take a blood sample and the result is available in 15 minutes. Initially, the screening of every citizen will be done and if doctors notice symptoms of Covid-19 in anyone, rapid test will be conducted on the spot,” said Dr Rajesh.
Wash veggies properly before eating
Dr Vikas Sikri of SPS hospital, while replying to the query, said if heart patient has any symptoms, then such patient should contact a doctor and should not take medicine at his own discretion. He said this virus can survive on raw vegetables and people should avoid consuming raw vegetables and if you still want it, wash the same properly before eating.
Strengthen immunity
Dr Mohandeep Kaur from Ayush hospital at this time, people should change their life style. She said while making bed tea, use tulsi leaves, black peeper, do yoga and meditation. Instead of normal water, people should have warm water, also boil fennel or giloy leaves in it which is immunity booster.
