Two succumb to injuries received in road mishaps


Ludhiana: On Sunday, two persons succumbed to injuries they had received in road accidents a few days ago. Both were hit by allegedly speeding and recklessly driven vehicles and in both the cases the accused drivers escaped from the spot. Kewal Krishan (50) was grievously injured when a speeding vehicle ran over him while crossing the GT Road on foot near Dhandari on October 23. The victim was admitted to the PGI, Chandigarh, where he succumbed on Sunday. On the complaint lodged by Ashok Kumar, brother of the deceased and resident of Guru Nanak Nagar, near Gill Canal, the police have registered a case under Sections 279 and 304-A of the IPC. In another road accident, Jaswinder Singh (41), resident of Dhandri village in Sangrur district and working as a bus driver with a private transport company, was hit by a speeding truck when he was standing near his bus while passengers were disembarking from it at Dhandari Kalan on October 29, 2021. Jaswinder Singh, who had sustained serious injuries in the accident, was admitted to a private hospital at Patiala where he died yesterday. On a complaint lodged by Manpreet Singh, conductor of the same bus and resident of Guru Nanak Nagar, Patiala, the police have booked the driver of the truck (PB-06Q-0535), identified as Malkit Singh, resident of Batala, under Sections 279, 337, 338 and 304-A of the IPC.
