Ludhiana: Shri Atmanand Jain School committee celebrated the 150th birthday of Yugveer Punjab Kesri Jain Acharya Shrimad Vijay Vallabh Surishwar as founder’s day today. The day was also marked as the annual function of three educational institutions. The function commenced by lighting of 150 diyas at Guru Mandir, offering prayers to the Almighty with “Navkar Mantra” and lamp lighting by the chief guest and members of the managing committee. A bhajan was recited in the praise of Guru Vallabh, followed by a speech on his vision about enlightening the mass with Jainism and education. Various colorful folk dances performances such as Gujrati, Rajasthani and Punjabi; musical items such as qawalis and bhajan, group songs and dances; theatrical items such as bhand and mimicry; and a tribute to the Pulwama attack martyrs were organised, in which the students of all three institutions participated. Bhangra and giddha performances mesmerised the audience. The combined magazine, Vallabh Jyoti, of all three institutions, was also released on the event. A prize distribution ceremony was also held, in which students were honored for their achievements in various academic, cultural and sports activities. Manmsohan Singh Jain, Chairman from MS Group of Industries, Chennai, laid said students should carry forward the morals cultivated by their alma mater. Rajinder Bhandari, former vice-chairman, Planning Board, Punjab, stated that the institution represented a culture of deep seated integrity, efficiency and discipline as the core of its pedagogical pursuits.
