The Congress today urged the Supreme Court to recall its order on Rafale jet purchase and issue notices to the government for perjury and contempt of court.

Party spokesperson Anand Sharma said the SC order was void as it was based on “factually incorrect” information on jet pricing furnished by the government.

“It has become imperative for the Supreme Court to recall its judgment and issue notices to the government for contempt of court and perjury. The government has also breached the privilege of both Houses of Parliament,” he said, while slamming the government for questioning the knowledge of the court.

“The government is not only telling the court to correct the order, but also that the judges did not know their grammar. This is shocking and unprecedented,” he said.

He also made light of the series of press conferences the BJP has planned  tomorrow to “reveal the truth on Rafale”, and said, “It can do 700 press meets, but that is not going to change the fact that the deal is a scam.”

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today ruled out referring the Rafale deal to a parliamentary panel, calling the Congress “bad losers”. CAG’s view was not relevant after the SC clean chit, he said. — TNS
