Ayodhya: With winter setting in, the Ayodhya Municipal Corporation has decided to buy jute coats for the cows staying in different shelters of the holy city. Niraj Shukla, Nagar Nigam Commissioner of Ayodhya, said, “We are in the process of getting the cow coats made. This scheme will be implemented in three-four phases. First we are starting with the Baishingpur cow shelter, which houses around 1,200 cattle, including 700 bulls and the rest being cows and calves. We have initially placed order for 100 cow coats for the calves.”  Shukla added that the first delivery would arrive in November end and each cow coat costs Rs 250-300. IANS

Berhampur (Odisha): After the southern states, Odisha will introduce “water bells” in schools to ensure that children drink adequate quantity of water, a senior official said on Sunday. All schools in Ganjam district have been instructed to ring three “water bells” from Monday to remind children of drinking water, she said. District Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange said the initiative aimed at making drinking of water a habit among children to ensure that they stay hydrated. PTI

New Delhi: In a major bid to woo Chinese tourists to India, the Union Tourism Ministry has decided to put up signage all across the Buddhist circuit in Chinese, sources said on Sunday. The ministry’s decision to put up signage in foreign languages at major destinations is part of a plan to attract 20 million foreign tourists by 2020. While 50 lakh Chinese tourists travel globally, India’s share currently is only 3.5 lakh, they said. PTI
