Fatehgarh Sahib, February 29
In a meeting held today, the Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib Municipal Council approved 19 proposals for development works worth Rs 3.91 crore. The meeting was presided over by the president of the council, Ashok Sood, and Fatehgarh Sahib MLA Lakhbir Singh Rai was also present.
Addressing mediapersons, the MLA and the council president said development projects with an approximate cost of Rs 3.91 crore have been approved. They said a new community centre would be constructed at Ward 22, which would cost Rs 91.57 lakhs, and another would be constructed at Ward 23, which would cost Rs 22.89 lakhs. They said that besides this, Rs 24.64 lakhs were approved for the renovation of a solid waste dump near the MDF shed, Rs 41.34 lakh for the renovation of parks in Bahadurgarh, and Rs 27.75 lakh for the boundary wall of MC Land, among others. The councillors also approved the extension of the contract for fire personnel for six months.
MLA Lakhbir Singh Rai said the budget for new water tanks for regular water supply in the city has also been approved. He said a community centre would be constructed for Prajapat Viradari at Brahman Majra, adding that a budget of Rs 13 lakh has been passed for the sterilisation of stray dogs. He said Rs 12 lakh has been approved for the renovation of the night shelter at Humayunpur.
At the meeting, the MLA instructed the councillor to ensure the ongoing development work in the city is completed on time.
