Amritsar, February 29
With the arrest of three persons, the police claimed to have busted a cross-border drug cartel being run by a US-based drug peddler, besides an inter-state weapon smuggling racket. The police have confiscated 5 kg heroin and arms smuggled from Madhya Pradesh.
The drug trafficker, having links with US-based trafficker Jasmeet Singh, alias Lucky, was identified as Gurpreet Kumar, alias Deep, of New Shanti Nagar Bhajwara, Hoshiarpur. The police have impounded an MUV being used for supplying heroin.
Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Bhullar said the police nabbed Gurpreet from Kajikot village on Chabal road and seized the contraband from him. During questioning, he disclosed that they were receiving the consignment from across the border on the instructions of Jasmeet.
