Chandigarh, August 1

The Fatehgarh Sahib police today arrested five gangsters of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and seized eight illegal weapons and 30 cartridges from them. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, DIG, Anti-Gangster Task Force, Ropar range, has confirmed this.

The police said the kingpin of the gang was identified as Sandeep Sandhu of Patiala.

He already faces four FIRs under sections of the IPC, Arms Act and Excise Act in Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib. Sandhu is an associate of gangster Gurpreet Singh, alias Guri, who is lodged in Patiala jail. Both were active members of the Bishnoi gang.

Meanwhile, the police have seized 3,710 intoxicating tablets and 4.7 kg intoxicating powder from the house of dismissed Inspector Parminder Singh Bajwa in Ferozepur. The development came a week after the police had dismissed Inspector Bajwa and two other cops — ASI Angrej Singh and Head Constable Joginder Singh.
