Ferozepur, September 18

Eight persons, including three women, were booked for illegal mining at Isa Panj Garain village in Guruharsahai on Thursday.

After receiving inputs regarding illegal mining in the village, police officials raided the site. ASI Gurmej Singh said during the raid, the accused fled the scene.

The accused have been identified as Mahla Singh, Subhash Singh, Paramjit Singh, Mukhtiar Singh, Kala Singh, Veero, Maya Bibi and Lalo Bai. The ASI said two tractor-trailers filled with sand were also recovered from the spot. A case under Sections 379 of the IPC, and 21 (3), and 21 (4) of the Mines and Minerals Act has been registered at the Guruharsahai police station.

In another case, an unidentified person was booked for illegal mining near Taranwali village in the Mamdot block. — OC
