Agencies plotting to defame stir: SAD

Amritsar, December 12

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal and his wife Harsimrat Kaur Badal today took part in the ‘Akhand Path’ initiated to mark the centenary of the party, which falls on December 14, at the Golden Temple.

Sukhbir appealed to all Punjabis to reject the attempts to create a communal wedge in the state. He said a conspiracy was afoot to turn the ongoing farmer agitation into a religious war. He claimed that “agencies are plotting to defame the agitation in various ways, including painting the farmers as terrorists and separatists. We need to reject such forces and ensure peace and communal harmony is not disturbed in any manner”.

Sukhbir said the agitating farmers were nationalists and not separatists. He asked CM Capt Amarinder Singh to disclose what transpired between him and Home Minister Amit Shar recently. — TNS
