Balwinder murder: Cops get production warrant of 2

The Tarn Taran police today got the production warrant of two prime accused, namely Gurjit Singh, alias Bhaa, and Sukhdeep Singh, alias Bura, from the Delhi Police in the murder case of Shaurya Chakra awardee Balwinder Singh.

Though the district police arrested as many as 11 accused in the case, the weapon used in the crime and the motive behind the killing have not been revealed yet. The duo had been arrested by the Delhi Police on December 7 with members of the banned terrorist group Babbar Khalsa after a brief exchange of fire in the Shakarpur area of the national Capital. Besides Gurjit and Sukhdeep, others who were arrested were Kashmir residents Shabbir Ahmad, Ayub Pathan and Riyaz.

Team to reach Tarn Taran today

A special team of the district police was dispatched to Delhi a few days ago to ensure that the case was taken up before the court in Delhi with relevant facts. Jagjit Singh Walia, SP (Investigation), said the team would depart for Tarn Taran from Delhi on Thursday. The accused would be produced in the court to get their police remand.
