Chandigarh, December 5

Reacting on allegations of a recruitment scam, Congress MLAs on Sunday slammed SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal and levelled counter-allegations against him of duping the people of the state during the Akali-BJP rule.

Congress MLAs Kuljit Singh Nagra, Barindermeet Singh Pahra, Kulbir Singh Zira and Amit Vij said Sukhbir had no moral right to question the integrity of Education Minister Pargat Singh, who had been working round the clock to bring reforms in the education system.

“Badals had looted Punjab for years and during their 15-year rule in the past two decades, they had not recruited even a single professor,” they claimed.

The MLAs said under the leadership of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, the Education Minister was recruiting 1,091 assistant professors after 25 years in a transparent manner. Rather than welcoming this ‘revolutionary’ move, Sukhbir was levelling baseless accusations, they said.
