Patiala, February 11
Patiala police have diverted traffic through various roads towards Delhi and Haryana after the closure of the Shambhu barrier by the Haryana authorities. Police personnel have been deployed on almost all highways and link roads to ensure minimal inconvenience to the public.
Since yesterday morning, the police have diverted traffic coming from Amritsar towards Dera Bassi and Pehowa as the highway near Shambhu is closed till further intimation. “We have also put policemen on duty on many link roads passing through villages to ensure smooth traffic movement. All police stations bordering Haryana have been put on alert and additional force has also been stationed there,” said Patiala SSP Varun Sharma.
Despite fissures between unions, cops expect a huge rush of farmers to march towards Shambu barrier and have made arrangements to control any situation.
