Phagwara-based Lovely Professional University (LPU) will host the 106th Indian Science Congress from January 3 to 7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event with the theme, ‘Future India: Science and Technology’. He will address a gathering of about 30,000 scientists, researchers and students.
The Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) has been organising the Indian Science Congress annually with the aim of bringing together the science fraternity from across the world on one platform to discuss scientific innovations and research. Six Nobel Laureates from countries such as Germany, Hungary and England are expected to take part this time, besides Union ministers Harsh Vardhan and Smriti Irani.
LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal said, “We are excited to welcome the PM and the leaders of the global and national scientific community to our campus. I am confident that this edition of the Science Congress will set a new benchmark for scientific discourse in India.”
The mega event will also include the Children’s Science Congress and the Women’s Science Congress. The former will give youngsters (age group of 10-17 years) an opportunity to showcase innovative ideas.
