‘Super 30’ in making?

Fatehgarh Sahib: After the success of two of his students in civil services, IAS officer Jaspreet Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, has taken up the challenge to impart free coaching to promising students at Mata Gujri College and Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University. While coaching institutes charge a huge sum of money from civil services aspirants, the bureaucrat has decided to spare time out of his busy schedule to help and motivate youngsters to carve out a bright career for themselves. Besides, he is striving hard to create employment opportunities for the unemployed youths under Ghar Ghar Rozgar Yojna through the Bureau of Employment and Enterprises at the district level. He has been instrumental in getting more than 4,000 youths placed in various jobs. “Who says there are no jobs? There are enough opportunities. All you have to do is to make yourself fit for that,” said the ADC.

Sangrur: Sufi singer Satinder Sartaj enthralled local residents during an event organised by District Olympic Association at Ranbir College here recently. Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, MLA Dalvir Singh Goldy and senior administrative officers were present. During the event, the organisers made the audience aware of symptoms of cancer to spread awareness regarding the disease. The audience, which included a majority of youth, was also made aware of the ill-effects of drugs through LED screens installed at the venue.

Emotionally charged reunion

Abohar: A differently abled youth who had reached the town a few weeks ago and was taken by Manav Sewa Samiti chief Subhash Manav to Apna Ghar Ashram at Khayaliwala village, near Sriganganagar, was reunited with his family on Sunday. It happened at the function that was organised to lay the foundation for the new ashram building at Pathanwala village. Helena, who serves in Delhi, reached Sriganganagar without informing the organisers and identified the youth as her brother. It was an emotional moment for not only Helena, but also for hundreds of people present there. Helena said her brother could not get any education due to mental illness. He suddenly left home in Ranchi on July 3 last year. All efforts to search him turned futile. Recently, someone from the ashram approached the family and made this possible, she said.
