Woman ends life with 2 kids; husband, kin booked

A 25-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide along with her two children by jumping into the Sirhind canal. While the body of the victim, Mandeep Kaur, has been recovered from the canal today, there is no trace of her children.

On the complaint of the victim’s mother, the police have registered a case under Section 306 and 34 of the IPC (abetment to suicide) against her husband Gurmeet Singh, mother-in-law Manjit Kaur and father-in-law Darshan Singh.

Mandeep allegedly went missing along with her two children, 4-year-old son Avijot Singh and 2-year-old daughter Navjot Kaur, from her residence at Dhara colony in Faridkot on November 26.

In a complaint to the police, Chhinder Pal Kaur, Mandeep’s mother, alleged that her daughter was being harassed since her marriage about 5 years ago. “Since November 26 my daughter and her two children went missing and her in-laws were not giving me any cogent reply about their whereabouts,” she said.
