SAD alleges false cases against party workers

Bathinda, January 18

SAD leader and former Bathinda Zila Parishad chairman Gurpreet Singh Maluka said the police should stop registering “false” cases against SAD workers under directions from Congress leaders of Rampura Phul Assembly segment.

Gurpreet Maluka alleged that since the formation of Congress government, it had been registering false cases against SAD workers as a part of vendetta politics. Maluka said in a fresh incident on Friday, the police registered a “false” case against two SAD workers, Mahala Singh and Gurpreet Singh of Bhai Rupa village, on a complaint by Congress leader Tirath Singh. He said the SAD workers were present at a wedding function, where Tirath requested them to get a photo clicked with him, which they refused. Irked over this, he got a false case registered against them by putting political pressure on the police, he said. In his complaint, Tirath told the police that the SAD workers threatened and fired at him.

Gurpreet Maluka alleged that this was not the first false case against workers of his party in the Assembly segment. Several cases had been registered in the past under directions from state Revenue Minister.

He said the police must work for public and not succumb to political pressure. Because of registration of false cases, the integrity of police had also come under question, he said.
