Caught on camera, an alert clerk managed to scare a thief away with his own weapon.

The thief— Cory Phillips—was arrested on last Tuesday for a robbery he committed on Monday at a hotel in Paducah, reports KFVS.

The CCTV footage of the entire incident was shared on Facebook by Paducah Police Department, Kentucky. The incident has left several people impressed.

The hotel clerk, who managed to grab Mr Phillips' gun during the robbery, scared him away.

In the clip, a masked man enters the hotel and demands for cash from the woman standing behind the counter, threatening her with a gun.

She throws the money over the countertop, after this the thief sets the gun down to collect the cash. Taking the opportunity, she grabs the gun and points it towards Mr Phillips, who flees the scene immediately.

The video has garnered a lot of praise and several comments.

"I want to hear the audio or at least see an interview with this amazing woman!!" wrote one commenter. "I'm impressed with this woman's calmness," said another, while a third added: "She deserves a raise."

Initially, the police shared the footage with the public to identify the thief. However, he was arrested the next day during a routine traffic stop when cops found stolen items in his car.
