Hong Kong: Hong Kong announced on Tuesday that overseas same-sex partners would qualify for the right to live and work in the city after a landmark court victory by a British lesbian earlier this year. It is a step forward for LGBTQ rights in Hong Kong, which has been criticised by campaigners for lagging behind on equality issues. Under the revised immigration policy which will come into force Wednesday, anyone who has entered into a same-sex civil partnership, same-sex civil union or same-sex marriage abroad could be eligible to apply for a dependant visa. New looser uniform for women Muslim officers in UK
London: A British police force has launched a specially-designed uniform that is looser and longer in an attempt to attract more female Muslim recruits to its ranks. West Yorkshire Police said the new tunic, which shows less of the female form, was suggested by a Muslim officer and then designed by the force’s clothing manager. The tunic is a looser and longer fit and has full sleeves. The uniform was first tried by Police Constable (PC) Firzana Ahmed from Bradford, a city with a substantial Muslim population in England. PTI
