PPS Nabha to take on Bagharia Hockey Centre in sub-junior final

LUDHIANA: Punjab Public School, Nabha, and Bagharia Hockey Centre came out triumphant in the semi-finals to enter the final in the sub-junior (Under-10) section of the 9th Olympian Prithipal Singh Hockey Festival being organised by Mata Sahib Kaur Sports Charitable Trust at Jarkhar village, near here, on the Ludhiana-Malerkotla Road.

Punjab Public School, Nabha, and Bagharia Hockey Centre came out triumphant in the semi-finals to enter the final in the sub-junior (Under-10) section of the 9th Olympian Prithipal Singh Hockey Festival being organised by Mata Sahib Kaur Sports Charitable Trust at Jarkhar village, near here, on the Ludhiana-Malerkotla Road.

In the semi-final, PPS Nabha survived a scare against Nankana Sahib Public School, Rampur Chhanna (Amargarh) 3-2.

Players of both sides displayed a fine stick work to entertain the spectators, who remained glued to their seats throughout the match.

For the winning side, Ranjodh Singh, Gurmukh Singh and Harsimran Singh sounded the board, while Jashanpreet and Prabhdeep Singh found the target for the losing side. Jashanpreet was adjudged the man of the match.

The second semi-final was played between Bagharia Hockey Centre and Rampur Hockey Centre, Doraha, 4-2, to book their berth in the summit clash. The two sides were tied 1-1 at half time.

Karamveer Singh, Jashanvir Singh, Satnam Singh and Harjot Singh scored a piece each for winners, whereas Jaswinder Singh and Navjot Singh struck for Rampur Hockey Centre to reduce the margin. Jaswinder Singh of the losing side was declared man of the match.

In the junior section (U-17), Ghwadi School drew with Nankana Sahib Public School 4-4 and Jarkhar Hockey Academy beat Punjab Public School, Nabha, 10-6.

Parupkar Singh Ghuman, president of District Bar Association of Ludhiana, Sukhwinder Singh Maan (Dhandari Kalan), advocate Manjeet Singh and Harshveer Singh Jhamat were the guests of honour.
