11 pink booths set up

AMRITSAR: A day before the Lok Sabha elections in the constituency, electoral officials issued the list of already earmarked 11 pink polling booths here on Saturday.

A day before the Lok Sabha elections in the constituency, electoral officials issued the list of already earmarked 11 pink polling booths here on Saturday. It is for the first time that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has designated pink polling booths where all the staff will be women. Election officials have set up one pink polling booth each in every Assembly constituency.

As per District Electoral Officer Shivdular Singh, such polling stations are Government Elementary School, Ajnala; Government Elementary School, Ram Teerath, Rajasansi; Government Elementary School, Kazi Kot, Majitha; Government Senior Secondary School, Jandiala Guru, Khalsa College of Education, Ranjit Avenue; Dashmesh Sanik Public School, Kot Khalsa; AB Model School, Kishan Kot; Gulmohar Public School, Gobind Nagar, Sultanwind; Amrit Senior Secondary School, Gate Hakima; Government Elementary School, Khairbad, Attari; and Shaheed Amarjeet Singh Government High School, Baba Bakala.

The district electoral officer said, “There are 11 pink booths, one each in every Assembly constituency. The polling staff, security staff and helping staff will be women. The initiative will contribute to push voting percentage of women in this election.”
