Amritsar, December 26
Following the successful launch of the direct Amritsar-Nanded flight, the BJP has raised the demand to start a similar flight to Patna, linking the holy city with Bihar's capital, which is also the birth place of Guru Gobind Singh.
BJP state executive member Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina today wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to facilitate such an air link at the earliest.
In the letter to the PM, he thanked the Centre for starting the direct flight to Nanded. The central government has given a gift to all Punjabis in general and the Sikhs in particular by accepting their long-pending demand for a direct Amritsar-Nanded flight.
Apart from connecting the devotees in the two cities, the flight will also give a boost to religious tourism and will be a boon for the trade and commerce from Amritsar to Patna and the North-East. He further added that considering the strategic location of Amritsar, the direct flight would provide impetus to the trade in the entire border region. — TNS
