Khazana Gate-Sultanwind Chowk road beautification starts

AMRITSAR: Navjot Singh Sidhu, Minister for the Local Government, Tourism and Cultural Affairs, on Sunday initiated the Rs 34-crore project pertaining to the beautification of the 3.

Navjot Singh Sidhu, Minister for the Local Government, Tourism and Cultural Affairs, on Sunday initiated the Rs 34-crore project pertaining to the beautification of the 3.2-km road from Khazana Gate till Sultanwind Chowk via Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Gurdwara. He said the Punjab Heritage Tourism Promotion Board would execute this project with the assistance of Asian Development Bank. The road will be beautified on the lines of Sri Darbar Sahib surroundings.

The shops and houses situated on the stretch will be provided with service road, and the wall adjoining the main road will be turned into a museum depicting the rule of Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Apart from this, the entire stretch will see the breathtaking landscaping, lights, cycle tracks, separate space for rehris, parks along with five public convenience places. This entire work would be finished by June 2020.

The minister also made it clear that the Bhagtanwala garbage dump would be shifted.

Amritsar South MLA Inderbir Singh Bularia said beautification of the 3.2 km road was his father’s dream.
