Post office staff busy spreading awareness

AMRITSAR: The Department of Posts is celebrating the National Postal week from October 9 to October 15. A number of activities are being taken up, including arranging visit of schoolchildren to post offices, displaying banners, workshop for staff on soft skills, spreading awareness regarding savings and importance of banking.

The Department of Posts is celebrating the National Postal week from October 9 to October 15. A number of activities are being taken up, including arranging visit of schoolchildren to post offices, displaying banners, workshop for staff on soft skills, spreading awareness regarding savings and importance of banking.

The divisional branches will also have to hold melas (fairs). Interestingly, for the promotion of philately, ‘My Stamp’ facility has to be given in schools and business houses. Philately functions are also to be organised in different institutes to create awareness among schoolchildren regarding philately.

Students are also to visit mail offices, workshops for children on letter and address writing and use of postal stationery.

Makhan Singh, Senior Superintendent, Post office, Amritsar division, said, “A number of activities will be taken from October 9 to 15. This will create awareness regarding postal department.” Every year, a week is celebrated to mark the contribution of the Department of Posts in lives of a common man.
