Ridham Kalyan, one of the five finalists of the Indian Idol contest, a music reality show on Sony Entertainment Television, visited the city before the grand finale of the show here on Thursday. Ridham is a student of Shahzada Nand College, where he was welcomed with great zeal.
President of the college Sushma Mehra, principal Harbinder Kaur, staff members and students gave him a rousing welcome. Before his performance on the stage, he acknowledged immense contribution of his mentor Prof Ramandeep from the department of vocal music, who honed his musical skills. He sang popular numbers like “Aaj mausam bada beimaan hai…” and “Ni ajj mera ji karda” and enthralled the audience.
Sushma Mehra said, “Despite his new-found stardom, Ridham is a very balanced, passionate for music and down-to-earth person with a disarming smile.”
Prof Ramandeep from the Department of Vocal Music said the private channel provided a good platform to the budding singers, which honed the skills of singers and prepared them for a stupendous career in music.
The management of Shahzada Nand College appealed to the residents of Amritsar to vote liberally for him so that he could win the contest.
