Amritsar: Guru Nanak Dev University organised a special session on yoga to commemorate 8th International Yoga Day. The session was led by students who have prior training on yoga and was attended by students, staff and faculty members of the university. The session was jointly organised by the office of Dean Student’s Welfare and Department of Physical Education. Dr Amandeep Singh, Teacher-in-charge, Campus Sports coordinated the session. Prof Dr Anish Dua, Dean Student’s Welfare of the university highlighted the importance of holistic well-being and how physical, mental and emotional wellness is important for the good of mankind.

Shri Ram Ashram Public School

Students, teachers and other staff of Shri Ram Ashram Public School took part in Yog Asanas held to mark the International Yoga Day in school premises. President of the School, Balbir Bajaj was the chief guest. Various yoga asanas like Vakra Asanas, Trikona Asanas and stretching exercises were performed along with breathing techniques like “Pranayam” and “Meditation” were practiced.

The department of physical education, NCC and NSS Units of BBK DAV College for Women celebrated International Yoga Day at its campus. Principal Dr Pushpinder Walia spoke on the merits of yoga in daily life. She highlighted the therapeutic effects of yoga that are intrinsically instrumental in alleviating any kind of physical, physiological, emotional and spiritual suffering. A productive session of yoga by Sunita Mahajan and Rajesh Bhatia, members of Bhartiya Yog Sansthan was held. TNS

Tarn Taran: The eight edition of International Yoga Day was celebrated in different parts of the district with full enthusiasm in which all walks of the citizen participated. Under the guidance of Priya Sood, District and Sessions Judge, judicial officers participated in the camp organised at the District Court Complex. Dr Ranbir Singh Kang while addressing on the occasion stressed to do yoga daily without break in life. SDM Ranjish Arora participated in the camp organised at the local SGAD Government Girls Senior Secondary School. Harbhagwant Singh and Jagwinder Singh Lehri, DEO (S) and DEO (E) said in all government schools Yoga Day was celebrated. Staff and the students participated in the yoga camps. Universal Academy too organise yoga camp in the school complex.
