12 parking lots planned under Galiara project

The local administration has planned at least 12 new parking sites for two-wheelers near Darbar Sahib under the Galiara project. The parking sites identified so far are from Baba Atal Sahib to Bazar Mai Sewan.

The divisional engineer of Galiara project stated that tenders have already been invited from the interested contractors. Though vehicles are already parked on these sites, the move to regularise these would check haphazard parking which often results in traffic congestion.

The officials stated that the tenders would be opened on September 25 and contract would be allotted to successful bidders. The administration has fixed a minimum reserve price of Rs 2.28 lakh. Apart from shopkeepers and customers, a large numbers of devotees coming to the holy shrine also would be benefited from the new parking sites.
